Skelly and the Shadow in the Corner: A Spooky Story for Kids

When a creepy antique music box unleashes a whispering shadow, a young girl discovers her toy skeleton is her only protector. A thrilling tale of supernatural friendship and bravery for tweens.

This story began with my granddaughter, a clever and curious tween, and her favorite toy: a poseable skeleton she affectionately calls ‘Skelly.’ He sits on her desk, a silent companion to her homework and dreams, and I started to wonder about the secret life he might lead after the lights go out. We both love a good spooky tale, but we agree that the best ones are those that whisper instead of shout, leaving room for our own imaginations to paint the scary parts. I wanted to write a story like that for her—one that transforms a beloved friend into a silent, brave guardian. This is a tale for her, and for anyone who has ever suspected their toys have a secret, heroic life of their own.
